I have a complex system of Windows and Linux distro partitions on 2 separate drives. Yesterday I downloaded from Distrowatch the 15.10 versions of Ubuntu, U. Studio, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Mate and Kubuntu. Slow day and I am retired. I have UEFI but have not had a problem with any of the distros I installed so far. But with all of these 15,10's they took forever to boot and a few did not finish the Live session and none would install. I have another computer with standard Bios but they did the same thing. I use Verbatum DvD's and rarely if ever had problems with them. It's a head scratcher.

UEFI normally once installed is a lot faster.
If something is slow it usually means it cannot find a correct driver or configuration. Often UEFI settings or a boot parameter is required to resolve issue.

What are specs of system?

I find flash drives easier & faster to use. The also are reuseable and I can boot all the installs from one flash drive with grub2's loopmount.
