I came into some cash and am wondering what the community recommended laptop (used/new) is to get for all purposes Ubuntu at around the 300-dollar price point?

At that price point, could I get anything that runs 15.10 NOT hot?

Best Regards,

Used/refurbished Dell Latitude or Lenovo Thinkpad. Business laptops tend to be good Linux machines.

Anecdotes<>evidence, but I haven't noticed any heat problems with my Latitude E4300 running 14.04.

I agree with the ThinkPad choice.

Hello,

If you look on ebay, You can get thinkpads and lenovo's for well under 300.00. I just bought one for 116.00 with new battery and fully functional. Once I get it next week, I plan on putting ubuntu on it and having fun.

Thanks
