Hello,

My ASUS G75VW laptop has several functions mapped, such as adjusting the keyboard brightness, screen brightness, and sound. It took a few fixes to get the screen brightness working but now that is over with. Everything was working fine when using Unity in Ubuntu.

However, after installing xubuntu desktop and rebooting, even when launching into the ubuntu desktop (at the log in screen) - the indicators in the top right corner for my functions no longer work. The functions themselves work, like I can still change the brightness, but it no longer shows in the corner. How can I fix this?

For reference, to fix my brightness issue, I had to install nvidiabl and put the parameter "acpi_osi=" in /etc/default/grub.

Edit: when booting into the xubuntu desktop, none of the function keys work at all except for the brightness, still no indicator though.
