After a recent update the
update manager (launched with sudo update-manager -d)
gets me
"failed to download repository information"
apt-get works ok

sudo apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done

Calculating upgrade... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
anything of concern?

the message system error detected keeps popping up, too

must say that i had to force shut down earlier on, could that have caused the problem?
on restarting i noticed that there is an error message coming on boot
just in case it helps here is the crash report

The message "failed to download repository information" will appear even if only one repository is not available. Running


sudo apt-get update

will usually show what URLs (repositories) apt-get cannot connect to. The apt-get listing will show "Hit" for active repositories and "Err" for repositories that are not available. It does not necessarily mean that the regular update/upgrade will not work. Unless for some reason connection is not being made to any repositories. In this case Update Manager (the GUI version) will claim that the OS is up to date.
