Hello,
I am trying to install Ubuntu Desktop (14.04.3 LTS) on a machine with the following hardware:
- Intel Core 2 Duo E7400
- G31-M7 TE (http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=404) Motherboard
It also has an empty hard disk. I tried installing through an USB drive and through an External HP CD/DVD drive, and in both cases it loads up until unity comes up, then the computer crashes and reboots. Trying without installing also crashes at the first glance of the unity background. I already tried with nomodeset but it didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ;)

EDIT:
I can access the menu while holding shift during the boot, and then I selected (by pressing F6) to use acpi=off and nomodeset, but none worked
