In the 'quick crossword' in today's issue of The Independent (a national newspaper in the UK):

Clue is 'Computer operating system'. Answer is five letters. I got that it began with 'L' and ended with 'X' and I thought 'hey, I know this!' :)

I wonder how many other 'general' readers (no background in computing) got it?

I think more people know what Linux is these days. It is rare for me to get a puzzled look when I tell people I use a Linux OS, unlike 5 or 6 years ago.
