my laptop is Asus K52jr w/ hd5450, using the open source driver its working fine w/ Xubuntu 14.04.3 after installing the fglrx driver, it has black screen.
followed the instructions from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2266268&p=13257437#post13257437
but still black screen.
when i tried hooking it to an external monitor it has display, in display setting, the laptop and external monitor were both detected but still no display on laptop monitor.
asus and radeon also had this issue on windows 7 and you need to change the backlight settings in registry for the laptop monitor to work, i was hoping it could also be done here.
