I was wondering if ubuntu or any linux for that matter will switch over to the ZFS filing system. More information is available here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZFS

Just a thought

I think there might be license issues seeing it is not GPL'd.

Sun has said it is investigating the porting of ZFS to Linux but this is complicated by the incompatibility between the OpenSolaris license CDDL and the GPL which governs the Linux kernel. To work around this problem the Google Summer of code program is sponsoring a port to Linux's FUSE system[5] so the filesystem will run in userspace instead

because they (Sun) released it under their CDDL in order to control/retain certain rights that the GPL would cause them to surrender. If they had intended it to be fully GPL-compatible, they would have licensed as such to begin with.
