How To Remove Desktop Launcher From Top Toolbar?

I'm using 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04

Not using Dash though. Installed Classic View and using Metacity. This could be important.

Have top and bottom toolbars. Found I could drag a desktop launcher to top toolbar and it would stick and work there.

No option to remove it though. And I've a couple I want to remove now.

How do I do this?

I found the answer at another forum. It's awkward, but simple:

(1) Hold down the Alt key
(2) With the free hand, put the mouse on the icon to remove and press and hold down the right mouse button.
(3) Do it wrong, and you will drag a copy onto the desktop.
(3) Do it right, and you will see a choice to remove it appear. Drag the mouse to the remove, and you are done.

Somebody out there knows what they are doing.
