Congratulations to the people behind the Ubuntu Christian Edition project. Your efforts have been noticed by LXer. You can bet that this will reach a wide range of people, given LXer's popularity.

And now you have a special place in OSDir as well!

Good job and keep it up!

For those interested to know what Ubuntu Christian Edition is, read this page (http://www.whatwouldjesusdownload.com/christianubuntu/2006/07/about-ubuntu-christian-edition.html)

(P.S. I didn't include this in the main Ubuntu Christian Edition thread, since that's a technical discussion thread).

I was sort of expecting it to to have atleast a Christian themed wallpaper.

I thought so, too. But I think they can only change as much as the Ubuntu trademark allows (if there is one).

Unless they get some special permissions from the higher ups...

Thanks, I was shocked the other day when I checked my site stats and they had jumped 300%. In the past 3 days I have quadrupled the number of unique vistors from all of last month. For the first time in 3 years, I am looking at my bandwith with concern.

I was sort of expecting it to to have atleast a Christian themed wallpaper.

I am still trying to finalize on what will be the default wallpaper for Ubuntu CE. The first release focused on stability. Now I am working to create a more polished version for the next release. If you have any suggestions you can let us know at the Ubuntu Christian Edition Development Forum (http://forums.churchforge.net/index.php?c=7).

Yes, you are right. The guidlines that I have been given were basically not to modify the logo. Which is fine with me since I want to stay very close to the look and feel of Ubuntu.

Thanks again, Jereme

I don't think you have to modify the logo in order to have a customized wallpaper. But just in case, I suggest you get in touch with the Artwork team to clarify things.

Ubuntu CE (is that how it's called?), IMHO, is something big. AFAIK, it's the first non-official Ubuntu derivative started from within the community that has made its way to OSDir and LXer without much press release before hand. As such, as early as now, you should get in touch with some of the devs.

Just my non-technical opinion. :D

Again, congratulations!

I have noticed some folks calling it Ubuntu CE. I am not sure how I feel about it yet. Yeah, I did not expect this project to garner much attention passed these forums. It is exciting! I have been contacted by some of the Ubuntu devs already. I have also been contacted by a few other Christian Linux developers who are wanting to collaborate.

Thanks, Jereme

Thanks, I spent an hour or so last night corresponding with the developer of DistroWatch. We discussed my project at length and he has assured me that Ubuntu CE will be listed. It will just take some time. The more support he sees the faster it will go.
