View Full Version : Recover partition after windows installation

I tried installing windows on a separate partition and I found that is deleted my Ubuntu 15.04 installation, I tried boot repair but it didn't work, here is my summary

Windows has for years rewritten the partition table leaving off the Linux logical partition.

It looks like your Linux partition was a logical starting one or two sectors after the start of the extended partition and ending before the start of the swap partition. It probably was sda5 & swap was sda6, but that is not critical as UUID is used for booting.

You should be able to use testdisk or parted rescue to restore the missing partition.
