I'm creating demonstrations and tutorials for those using GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), Inkscape or those who are planning on using other open source software for graphic design or illustration.

Hey, those are really nice, SKyPH3R!
You have talent.
Thanks! I want to make actual tutorial and tip videos along with these time lapses soon. Any questions are welcome and I'll try to answer them.

If I were more artistic, I'd really like to try that.
Some tutorials out there are far too advanced for myself, but great for more experienced people.

Ideally there would be a range for people just starting out and the more experienced. Also, a difference between art tutorials and software tutorials.
I want to make people more comfortable and confident with open source alternatives. To feel like if they invest the time to familiarize themselves with the software,
they can apply their own growing artistic skills to get the same or comparable results as they would with proprietary software.

Oh nice videos to I see, thanks for share.
I also make my deviations, and videos and other things with GIMP, OPENSHOT, INKSCAPE, etc... But unfortunately I can't record my work because my pcs dont have good optimal hardware to do that , so I only put the results on my deviantart or youtube an example of a video build with GIMP, Openshot :

Thanks SKyPH3R (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=1721666)for share the videos , looks amazing to learn about some things on Design with the Penguin!

Thanks! I don't know much about the recording software, but I guess you've already tried to record at lower resolutions, without sound and all of that. It would be great to have more people putting stuff out there. I noticed you had window animations and things turned on in one of your videos. Maybe stripping things down to the basics would lighten the load enough to improve recording. Great thing about time lapses at least is that frame rate doesn't matter so much, but I'd want to do normal speed tutorials too.
Anyway, I'm glad my channel has something of interest and I hope to fill it with more useful content.

Digital illustration done in Inkscape from a sketch. Many assets are from a mobile video game I've been working on since before I decided to do this video. I've cut out some dead ends and wasted time. I'm working on this casual mobile game with Unity 3D game engine wizard, Ivo van der Marel. (links yet to be given)
My goal was to showcase the capabilities of an open source software stack geared toward illustration (and soon game art development). Comments and questions are welcome. : )

Thought I would show how I trace screen shots of some of my favourite animated shows in order to have an infinite resolution wallpaper or print. It's all pretty straightforward. Mission Hill is probably in my top 5 of animated series with it's writing and unique style. It would be a dream to have it resurrected by Netflix, though maybe some things are better left untouched. Would have been nice to see the remaining screenplays brought to life. They're great on their own. Here's a link to the scripts. http://missionhill.tripod.com/mh_lost.htm Comments and questions are welcome. : ) Final image is here: http://skypher.deviantart.com/art/Gwen-and-Andy-of-Mission-Hill-558525172?ga_submit_new=10%253A1441507463

Thank you! Great thing about doing vectors, though is you hardly need a steady hand, just patience. The speed of the video doesn't show how long I fiddle with each node. And if I still have trouble I can keep zooming in. : )

Digital illustration of Diaspora's logo (an asterisk*) as a dandelion mandala. I've always thought Diaspora's branding and mission fit into a great visual/technological/social metaphor. The idea may not come through clearly in the end result, but I hope it at least looks cool. Maybe Diaspora users in tropical climates might appreciate the aesthetic more.

I'd like to support many open source projects. In terms of personal freedom, creativity, expression, collaboration, privacy and data control I can't think of a more important arena than social media for open source to take hold.

I hope you find Diaspora suitable! I've noticed it a quite a socially liberal, technical community. There's some Not Safe For Work content that gets posted, from there being no moderators, but most people choose to hide their posts for you to have to click on first. I'm glad Facebook wasn't around when I was in school. Would've been hell. lol

A gift digital painting of Rio De Janeiro for a coworker of my wife's. From the start I basically didn't know what I was doing, but was curious about using Blender 3D to create a composition and GIMP to paint over it. Setting up lighting in Blender 3D made it easier to make sure shading and colours were fairly consistent. I'd love to get back into using Blender 3D more.

First things first! This line art was created by my friend Steven Sommers aka Zeratanus. Check him out on Deviant Art here: http://zeratanus.deviantart.com/
The is a sort of announcement that I plan to get back into Blender Game Engine and actually use it to create a game with it's own universe, characters and everything. This is a wallpaper I made throwing together drawings of the whole cast and coloring it. There are characters created by Steve, my wife and myself. SpiL has been an on and off again interest ever since high school though it has changed many times over.
My goal with this is to create 3D backgrounds so Steve can get into creating some SpiL comics if he chooses. Soon I would like to create a 3D game that can be freely distributed. Something made with open source tools, but that also has personality and characters you can remember if not from unique design then by personality.
I'd like to get a Patreon set up for this project eventually. It would be great to start getting feedback after a few development updates.
