I was actually thinking about preloaded Autocannon 5s, with 2 Gauss Rilfes.

300 000 $ for that thing? I think the one who will spent such money for that thing is making a big mistake. I didn't find it interesting, it's noisy, slow, I don't know how can you even have fun with such thing. I find riding a bike more interesting.

I wonder if it runs *nix?

Ooh! I need one of those. I'm sure traffic jams are not a problem with one of those, and finding parking space would be easy.. People would probably hurry to make some room :D

Besides that seems like it would not get easily stuck in snow, and with small extra prize they could perhaps equip the feet with some spikes to provide better grip on icy roads..

Seriously, could these be made into real weapons?

Hehe of course it runs *nix. What doesn't?

I have to get me one of those. Maybe stick a LongTom cannon on. Or two LRM missle packs. :D

This would be great for cleaing the neighbouhood of annoying chavs.

Brunellus
August 3rd, 2006, 09:37 PM
doesn't look like it'd be LongTom capable. Maybe LRM-10s, if you're lucky.

But I doubt these things are really viable as weapons.

RavenOfOdin

Does it come with heat seeking missiles? :D

Brunellus

you have to pay extra for the SSRM-2 packs, bud.

When they get real legs (the legs they have on that one look more like wheels hidden beneath), they could be All terrain vehicles.

I know, they could be toppled easily, but imagine the amount of firepower it could possess.

I think I might just get a LongTom and mount it on my roof. Damn those things are great.

It is a bit slow. Doesn't really walk kinda shuffles.

The type of firepower they carry is better brought in other ways. As we're seeing again in the Middle East, it's not really about raw firepower any more, but target selection, information, and propaganda warfare.

Mechwarrior fantasies are the fusion of the total war of the second half of the last century mixed with echoes of the Mongol invasions of the thirteenth--they don't represent modern warfare terribly well. But 'low-intensity' insurgency/counterinsurgency doesn't make for good gaming.

They may not be ideal for warfare but think if you saw a bouncer in one of those there is no way your gonna mess :p

I don't care we should make it happen . I reckon we should all get together and buy a few and see what sort of world dominating army we can make out of it. Thing is we still need jump drives :-k.

In reality though just running down the M4 firing BB's at every caravan in sight would make me happy :-\".

That thing is freakin' cool. If you watched the video, what do you think those cars going down the road thought about the giant robot walking around?

Maybe giant mechs with air-rifle type attchments are a regular thing over there

"Oh look the Wilkinsons have a new Battle Mech"

I don't know. Do the Japanese have Wilkinsons?

Hmm..

Imagine.. we make an army of similar mechs, perhaps twice that size. Shuttleworth can afford it ;).

Then we go and attack Redmond!!

They'd be loaded with Linux and would form a Beowulf.

Personally I think we should take this idea and modify it so the giant stompy robots look like Penguins, then we will be ready :D.
