Hello, I am attempting to resurrect my old computer by installing Lubuntu on it. It can boot into the screen where I get the options to Try Lubuntu without installing, Install Lubuntu, Check disc for defects, Test memory, and Boot from first hard disk. If I select Try Lubuntu without installing, Install Lubuntu, or Check disc for defects my computer freezes up and if I try pressing any keys it sounds the system beep; however, the Test memory option works fine.

Specs:
HP Omnibook 6000
128 mb RAM
Intel Pentium 700 MHz
Windows 2000

Hi, welcome to the fora.
Lubuntu is an official member of the Buntu family so you don't have to post in 'Other'.

Long story short: Your computer is not strong enough for even Lubuntu, sorry.

No ubuntu based distro will work in 128Mb. I doubt debian would either.

I'd suggest Puppy Wary:

However, while Puppy may run in 128Mb, it won't run firefox with so little memory. I doubt if Chrome would work either.
