Folks,

My setup:
Ubuntu 14.4 + Openbox
nVidia card
HDMI output from nVidia goes to TV
VGA output from nVidia goes to a VGA monitor
From nvidia control panel, I have set up X-Screen 0 and X-Screen 1.

The system works as expected. I can watch movies on X-Screen 1 while working on monitor.

The problem is with the desktop icons.

Anytime, I create a .desktop file under ~/Desktop directory, the same icon shows up on both the monitors.

I don't recall seeing this problem under 13.4 OS.

I prefer that the icons stay only on the monitor (X-Screen 0) and not on TV. Is there a way to fix this? Perhaps I can add a new entry in the .desktop file.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Regards,
Peter

Within the display options in your unity settings, you'll find mirroring options and dock/icon options. Double check in there. I apologize for the vague response, but I don't have my ubuntu machine in front of me at the moment.

Thank you for your help. However, I am using Openbox, not Unity. Is there something equivalent under openbox?

Peter

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Openbox. We will have to wait and see if someone else jumps in here.
