[HELP] Downgrading mesa to mesa 10.1

hello ,is this possible ? i want to downgrade the mesa 10.4 to mesa 10.1 , because mesa 10.2 and above is very slow in my old laptop. latest mesa gives me very poor performance in 3d games . very sluggish. even flash games and videos are very slow since i have installed ubuntu 14.04 with 10.4 mesa . on ubuntu 12.04 up to 13.04 i dont have any problems on playing games and videos . and upon trying linux mint with 10.1 mesa . all was smooth . so i think mesa 10.2 and above is not compatible on my graphics. please help me. i want to enable compositor on my old laptop but because of the mesa 10.4 performance i have to disabled it ..

so Precise is your better choice ;)
why trying then 3D on low end hardware ?
downgrading mesa probably end with multiple cross dependencies issues; so better to reinstall 12.04 which is maintained for a long time.
