I right click on icon and select resize. Using cursor placed on one of the four blue resize squares around icon perimeter and holding mouse click I attempt to enlarge size. No go. ???

Any ideas where problem lies? Is there a lock icon size function for the Desktop environment that I need to release perhaps?

version 14.04.2 LTS

It works as expected in mine which is a standard Ubuntu with Unity.
What desktop environment are you using?
Is it only one icon you can't resize?

try other icons. I've run into a few issues where certain icon sizes can't be changed.

It appears, as Duck_Dude mentioned, that it is certain icons. I have Desktop icons set up as "Link To" icons for quickly going to areas of my Home folder. It is these "Link To" icons that will NOT change size. Dunno why....

I will close the thread as further investigation doesn't seem to be warranted.
