Hi everyone , first I'm new on the forum ! Altough I tried ubuntu and mint in the past I never thought about installing it until yesterday on my computer .
The problem was , Windows 8 was pre-installed , and you probably at least heard of that , they don't make dual boot easy at all .
Anyway , I managed to create the partition and to force the computer to boot on my usb , I did it 3 times (the first because I couldn't remember what was the number of the partition I created and the second because I forgot to create a partition for the VRAM) and the third time , when ubuntu ask me what to do to install , I was tired and instead of selectionning "something else" , I chose "erase everything" or something like that by accident .
Then I panicked and I turned off my PC , leading to the oblivion of windows 8 ... Well that's not a big lose , but I had lots of precious things for me on my :C drive and I was wondering if I could save at least a part . I am currently , and desesperatly , downloading a Live USB version of BootMed , I'm going to put it on my computer and try to save some data with TestDisk . Is there any Hope ? I mean I'm kind of a noob , when I checked "erase everything" , did it actually erase everything or did it just gave the possibility to ubuntu to overwrite the hard drive ? Thanks for your help , I feel so dumb after that ...
EDIT : If anyone have a suggestion about how to make a bootable USB with bootmed that would be nice , I use Unetbootin to do it with ubuntu but they don't propose to do it with bootmed and I don't want to mess up anymore by choosing a wrong distribution .
