Hello. I didn't know where to post my question. I'm asking it here.
I'm using Ubuntu MATE 15.04. Any idea what's this effect with the 3D desktop cube and how to disable it? I want regular 3D desktop cube, without this effect.
Any help will be appreciated

Moved to Desktop Environments

You should be able to make the desktop opaque by going into ccsm (compizconfig-settings-manager), which you would have had to use to even set up cube, and
inside Desktop Cube there should be options to set the opacity of active and inactive. Normal desktop would be 100.
I think it should be a setting in the 3rd tab for Desktop Cube.

If you are referring to the window being off to the side, you will just have to disable the 3D windows plugin.
The plugin is unsupported and no-one is updating it as compiz/unity progresses.
Been known to be buggy for some time.

So sadly, we can't use the 3D windows effect without being off to the side like in the old.

Yep, here's what happens when I enable 3d windows.
These sort of effects are only fun to play with for a while and aren't really missed.
They were good to show off to Windows users, but just fluff really.
