View Full Version : [ubuntu] Display Issues with Lenovo T530 laptop

I have just installed Ubuntu 15.04 on two Lenovo laptops, a T530 and a somewhat older
T420s. Both installations went apparently without a hitch and I quickly spent another
hour adding all my favorite software. On a typical install, I do this without pausing to
customize appearance details and do this as the last thing.

Here's the problem. On this T530, the display looks beautiful *but* I can't seem to
get a resolution finer than 1366 x 768. I'm looking at the NVidia XServer screen
settings and it correctly recognizes the NVS 5400M graphics device, but again, this
is the highest resolution offered. Of course, I know the card will do better. Since
this is 15" laptop, the current setting is not workable for the long haul.

For what it's worth, with the exact same installation, the 14" T420s is using 1600 x 900
and that's much better.

I've done a bit of a search on the web and see some similar issues but nothing that I have
seen to date is of much help to me. Any pointers would be welcomed and apologies if
this is a known problem with a solution already posted. Just give me the reference and
I'll take my tongue-lashing with it. Thanks much.
