Hi all,

I've taken a look through quite a few posts on here re similar issues but I can't seem to resolve.

I've upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10 via Software Updater. Everything was fine until I rebooted the machine, to where I was confronted with a black screen and that was all.
If I push ALT + F1, I get into text-mode when I can login. When I try running the 'startx' command, I get an error stating 'no screens found'(EE).

I have tried recovery mode with a simple boot etc to no avail. Can any please shed some light on what I can do from here? I'd really like to get back up and running.

Thanks in advance.

Upgrades are risky, as you probably also experienced when posting you other thread.

If you manage to salvage 14.10 you will soon have to upgrade again, because support is running out in a month or two. I would suggest that you do a clean install of the version you want (15.04 or 14.04.2) and keep it for as long as it's supported. After that a new install.

More advice about upgrades in the link in my signature.
