I left my laptop running on Ubuntu 14.04 suspended overnight. When I switched it on, there's a black panel at the bottom of the screen. Reinstalling unity desktop environment didn't solve the problem. It has never happened before.
Other weird things that have accompanied this are --
Pressing super key doesn't do anything
Can open only one tab at a time. Need to close it before opening another.
The default launcher that's usually present at the left doesn't show up when I take my mouse to the left.
No taskbar at the top.
Lock screen has reverted from asking password at left side to the center.
How can I correct this problem? Please help.
