Xubuntu 14.04 install fault on Laptop: had same problem trying to install ubuntu 14.04:
installed system successfully then when installing updates it freezes at 'configuring _ _ _ kernel' - can't even cancel. Clicked on 'Details' which end by saying 'install of _ _ _ complete'. But cursor stops and nothing follows to finish the confirguring process!?
attached scan of the next time I switched on laptop as it wouldn't boot at all.Could it be a hardware fault since it happened to 2 different installations plus an attempt to upgrade to 14.10 - same problem!?
side note: don't know how attachments work on this forum so please advise - thanks
