Hello,
I did review a thread from 2012 that specifically addressed the issue but some of the links are dead. I am running a 64 bit Dell Inspiron.
Here is the adapter that I have:
Broadcom Corporation BCM43142 802.11b/g/n [14e4:4365]
Does anyone know how to get a driver so I can get wireless access on my laptop please? FYI I am a newbie to linux.
Thank you all very much!!!

I downloaded the drop box drivers and it first in installed but now I cannot find it. And when I try to re-download it it gives an error and aborts the installation in Software Center. Any other suggestions please?

Software center also warned that the software was bad and did not meet quality standards. I assume it does not work with Ubuntu any more. I really need wireless internet on my laptop and am hoping someone can please offer another solution.
Thank you all so much for reviewing my issue and offering to help ):P

IF, repeat IF you'd prefer a "plug & play" solution, the Panda Ultra 150 g/g/n wireless adaptor is available from Amazon for about $10 USD. Have tested it on several Buntu laptops (and a couple desktops) . . 100% compatibility so far, and stable connections. Plug it in, click on network icon, and enter your wifi password . . that's it.
If interested, here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Panda-Ultra-Wireless-Adapter-150Mbps/dp/B00762YNMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431465883&sr=8-1&keywords=panda+ultra
BTW - - the installer links provided by VladLen5000 & Chili555 are top-rate (they show "how to fish" instead of just selling the fish).

Thank Geoffrey and everyone who responded. I am not terribly interested in becoming a master Ubuntu user so I will opt to purchase the Panda adapter. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
