Hi guys,
So I've just found something rather peculiar and can't quite understand it. So here's the back story...
My girlfriend gave me her old laptop as it stopped working as it should (it originally had windows vista). So I decided to try and install the new Ubuntu 15.04 release as I wanted to use it as a dev machine.
This is where it gets interesting. I make a new livecd with Unetbootin and try to boot it on the laptop. Nothing. It gets to the BIOS and crashes. OK I thought, maybe it was a corrupt livecd and then proceeded to make another with Universal usb installer.
Try again and same thing happens. So I decided to give windows 8.1 a try (as I've a usb stick with the installer on) and it boots off that perfectly fine.
My question is, why is the laptop not booting ubuntu, but does so perfectly fine with windows?
The laptop is a
Toshiba Satellite L300-19Y
Model number: PSLB8E-00N007EN
USB LiveCD's:
Ubuntu: Sandisk Cruzer 4GB
Win8.1: Kingston DT101 G2 8GB
