after install fail ubuntu wont load

i was running a update on 14.01 then it froze so i re started it and i comes up with a black screen like terminal and it wont boot up how to i fix this

I'm guessing that you meant 14.10. What updates were you installing, like was it a new kernel? Was it the upgrade to 15.04? How old is the computer and is it AMD or Intel? You might need to reinstall ubuntu, but if you give more information about the system and what updates you were installing someone might have an idea on how to save your installation.
