I want to do something very specific. I want to install Ubuntu from my SD Card to my hard drive, dual booting it alongside Windows 7. I created an installation medium on my SD Card with Universal USB Installer-quite a handy little tool-then I checked my BIOS to switch the default boot to my SD Card slot, but it only gives me either my hard drive and my DVD ROM drive. I neither have the time nor the money to get blank discs (PLEASE don't ask me to explain), so I'd like to be able to utilize the hardware I already own to do this.

Frankly, I'm at a loss.

I have an Asus K53E, and my (just updated) BIOS is American Megatrends, Inc. K53E.221

Unless you can somehow get the bios to recognize the SD card at boot time it will not work.

However you could try booting the ISO with Grub or Windows boot-loader. Here are links for each.

Some machines can boot from USB, but not from the SD card slot, so you could try the card in a USB card reader.

While I appreciate the suggestions, I was not able to make it work-probably due to a failing or 3 on my part.

Luckily, I came across an old mini dvd of Lubuntu I made a while back and went through the PAINFULLY LONG process of upgrading it from 12.04 to 14.10.

That's where I'm coming from you, now!:guitar::twisted:
