I have two identical computers running Ubuntu 14.04 lts.. On one computer the free use of pandora has commercials every so often. On the other none at all. So how come?

I think several threads have puzzled over this lately.

I don't get commercials on either my cell phone or my computer -- unless I skip enough songs to get told I have used up my skips. For the rest of that session I get ads occasionally. Next session, no ads.

I don't get commercials if I have an adblocker extension installed on my browser.

What's Pandora? Apart from the first woman created by the gods, of course.

Pandora is music streaming service.

Is it pandora.com? There are quite a few music-related entries for Pandora it seems.

Pithos for Pandora under Ubuntu and Mint. I do have a subscription, so no commercials here either.

No commercials with pithos /free account and I'm usually connected a little over an hour every other day . I don't know if the user is flagged for ads when selecting favorites or banning songs. The ads they serve are based musical preferences and Pandora has been dabbling in advertising since 2007.
