I am trying to install Ubuntu 14.04.02 AMD64 in EFI mode on a new system.

I have followed these instructions (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI).
- Set my BIOS to boot EFI only
- Disabled FastBoot
- Disabled SecureBoot

I have installed from a USB stick in UEFI Mode and the installation created 3 partitions on my disk. (efi, swap, ext4).
The installation went without any errors.

After restarting the system I get the S.M.A.R.T Status Bad error.
The drive I installed on is not listed in the BIOS either.

The mainboard is an Asus Z97-K.
What else do you need to know?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Did you make sure that the disk had a GUID partition table with GPT partitions rather than the default MBR msdos partition table?

I do not know if the system automatically makes a new GUID partition table if it detects MBR when you install as default as I always do that partitioning manually either by choosing "Something Else" or using gparted before installing so I have partitions already available and sized as I want them.
