im completely new to linux and need help with my wifi on deepin 2014.2 it says "wireless network is unable to be connected maybe due to the following reasons:
1.the hardware switch of wireless network is off
(on my hp pavilion g6 it shows the orange light
like its off but i cant press it to turn it on)
2.incorrect network configuration
3.incorrect driver of network hardware
so i need help, im dual booting windows and it works fine on there
sincerly- a frustrated newbie

Like Wild Man said, all you have to do is to run this command in your terminal:
wget -N -t 5 -T 10 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57264241/wireless_script && chmod +x wireless_script && ./wireless_scriptThis will download a script and create a file named (wireless-info.txt or wireless-info.txt.tar.gz) depending on the size of the file, and that file will be placed in your home folder. Afterwards you can either attach that file to the thread or copy/past its content into the thread, using code tags (http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fubuntuforums.org%2Fshowthread.p hp%3Ft%3D2171721%26p%3D12776168%26viewfull%3D1%23p ost12776168&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEl9aLbIoHVXZYLQvugZhl0WwWGFg) for the effect.

Please copy and paste all commands one line at a time into the terminal:
sudo apt-get purge bcmwl-kernel-source
You will have to enter your user password and it will not be shown as you type it so when you are done just hit enter and the command should run.
Run:
echo "options rt2800pci nohwcrypt=Y" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rt2800pci.conf
sudo modprobe -rfv rt2800pci
sudo modprobe -v rt2800pci
Watch for errors as you run the commnds.
Then check and see if you can turn the wireless on with a switch or fn + 5 for example key combination.
Then if it does not connect post a new file so we can see the changes.
Thanks

That all looks good. When you want to connect with your wireless you need to have the ethernet disabled becasue it will override the wireless everytime.
Did it connect or attempt too now?
joseph_greene
March 27th, 2015, 06:22 PM
no its still showing the same message "wireless is unable to be connected maybe due to the following reasons"
wildmanne39
March 27th, 2015, 06:25 PM
Then if it does not connect post a new file so we can see the changes after you reboot your computer.

I'm trying to reboot but I'm stuck at the lock screen and when I enter my password it just shows the loading animation and if I hit enter again my screen go's black except for the curser

Set your network settings in network manager to match the screenshots.
Then do:
sudo modprobe -r hp-wmi
sudo rfkill unblock all
rfkill list all
Is the hardblock gone? do you have ethernet unplugged?
Do you know what key combination or button is suppose to turn wifi on?
Thanks

Post the output of:
sudo modprobe -r hp-wmi
sudo rfkill unblock all

Then post a new script file so we can see if your wifi is scanning.

Do:
gksu gedit /etc/rc.local
Add these three lines above exit 0 without
rmmod -f rt2800pci
rfkill unblock all
modprobe rt2800pci
Reboot with ethernet disabled.
Thanks

#!/bin/sh -e#
# rc.local
#
# This script is executed at the end of each multiuser runlevel.
# Make sure that the script will "exit 0" on success or any other
# value on error.
#
# In order to enable or disable this script just change the execution
# bits.
#
# By default this script does nothing.
rmmod -f rt2800pci
rfkill unblock all
modprobe rt2800pci

Has this ever been resolved? I have the same issue. Wifi only works if I go into suspend and come out. Nothing else.
