have been using ubuntu 14.04 on a 10 year old computer. found out lubuntu would work better and faster for my minimal needs so installed it. upon comp startup, i can see the lubuntu logo but after i sign in, ubuntu 14.04 appears. 1) how can a get lubuntu to start so i can see if it is workable on my computer; 2) how can i uninstall ubuntu 14.04 to free up memory space? thanks so much for your help.

What package did you install ? lubuntu-desktop is the one you should have. Freeing space when you add a flavor upon another one is not trivial, some files are in common some are not. Best is to fresh install the flavor. Do you have separate /home and data partitions ? In any case, back up everything you'd be crying for if you'd loose, and backup the very important stuff on 2 different media/location.
