View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installing Ubuntu 14.10 on Asus Zenbook UX305FA-FB003H

Hello everybody!

I have gotten myself a Asus Zenbook UX305 and tried to install Ubuntu 14.10 on it. After I boot from USB I can hit install and see the Ubuntu logo very briefly, but then the screen goes black and stays that way.
Has anyone tried installing Ubuntu on this machine? I have found one rating on Amazon where somebody claims everything works out of the box, but he is using the FHD not the QHD+ screen. Maybe thats the problem?

Thanks in advance for any ideas how to resolve this issue!

Best regards,
Tim

Hello Tim,

The boot option nomodeset may help...
No problem with FHD model.

Hey!

I am thinking of buying a Asus Zenbook UX305 with the intent on running Ubuntu on it and would be very happy to hear how you are doing with your setup!

Uh, 14.10 is already EOL:

You're going to want either 14.04* or 15.10.
