Hi,

I am medium user of ubuntu/linux but this issue has got the better of me!!

I recently installed kicad (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~kicad-product-committers/kicad/product/view/head:/scripts/kicad-install.sh (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~kicad-product-committers/kicad/product/view/head:/scripts/kicad-install.sh)) on my Lenovo Y510p Ubuntu machine.
I also followed note 2 from http://www.kicad-pcb.org/display/DEV/Building+KiCad+on+Linux

After rebooting my system has become mildly unstable, showing the following systems.
1) Black Frame around all windows that I open from the unity bar on the left of the screen.
2) ctrl-alt-t to launch a terminal window - results in a black screen with no text.
3) Some applications not launching from the unity bar. Most importantly Eclipse will not launch nor filezilla...Gimp will!.
4) I am also getting lots of 'system problem detect' pop-up messages.

I am not 100% sure if these affects were introduced after the kicad script being run or if some update has happened in the background.

I would be great if someone could help be resolve this. So far I have tried the following suggested fixes.

1) cycling from ctrl-alt-F1 and ctrl-altF7.
2) dconf reset -f /org/compiz/ && setsid unity
3) I have followed some suggestion on a site ( I have lost the link now) that suggested 5 different fixes - none of these worked.

Best regards
Andy
