Thunderbird won't update

I have Ubuntu 14.04LTS and I'm trying to update T'Bird 31.4 to .5. I updated thru synaptic and that didn't work so I did it thru terminal
sudo apt-get install thunderbird and that didn't work. What the heck?

Mozilla has released 31.5 ... that doesn't mean it's in the repository for normal install / upgrade

Personally I'd wait until it's been fully vetted!

I believe 31.4 is the latest in the repositories for Ubuntu, it was just recently updated.
Where did you get the 31.5 version?

31.5 was in the update today. Run your software updater...should not have any problems.

Yeah, it was in synaptic. I did the process of updating through synaptic but when I go back and check T'Bird it still shows .4. I don't get it.

You have to restart Thunderbird for the changes to take effect.

Yes I did that, multiple times and it still shows .4.

Not sure what the issue is. Have you thought about removing and doing a new install?

Software updater just ran and now I have .5 after the beboot
