Old time kernel developer who lost his way to keep the lights on and migrated towards the dark side (Win32-64) and find my self back on this linux kernel 14.04 - trusty with a quick question I must push on.
New trusty kernel running on google cloud partner program as I am developing a PaaS product to allow even small development start-ups to use the SCM tools the big boys use for almost free!
Anyway...need a GUI to download my code and others via the web and cannot get the gui up. Checked that the standard gnome-panel was installed and working but it cannot resolve the correct device for X. May be relegated to the fact I am in the google cloud but I forget just how to do this. To be honest...it is not that I forget how...I really did not till about 1998 even use any GUI in UNIX/Linux but was used to just the CLI but find my self lost now/
