I've been attempting to update my Nvidia drivers since I first installed Elementary on my main system last week. I have tried through "Additional Drivers", downloading the .deb from the Nividia web site, and going through open source and prop. distrubutions. Everytime I update the drivers the next time I start up my computer I am trapped in the TTYL1. The last time this happened I was able to get back into the main GUI thanks to the help I got in this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2265632). I really don't want to go through this again but at the same time one of the things that finally drove me to completely abandon Windows was the amazing Steam and GOG support I've seen thus far.
Any help would be great! Thanks.

You are having a tough time with it. I would feel the same way with that much grief with a new system. But I would look elsewhere other than windows before giving up.
I do not run Elementary, but there are a lot of good reports about it and looks to be a sound choice. Still, your having all this trouble. So maybe it would be a good idea to try something else.
Mate 14.04
Its like Elementary and is also built on Ubuntu. I do not game, but a local gamer here (oldrocker) gives it a high rating for games. And I have found it to be user friendly.
Just a thought :)

Sorry for the late reply but just wanted to give you my thanks for the suggestion I grabbed an image for Mate will be trying it out in the coming week after I meet my deadlines for several projects!
Thanks again!
