Hi guys
I'm planning to install ubuntu 14.04 on my laptop's sister this friday.
Is there any compability issues should I worry about ,because from what I heard ubuntu is not very friendly with hp at least not as much as dell which is my laptop brand.
thank you

Is the computer specifications according to the following link?
http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-630-15-6-p-p6200-windows-7-home-premium-64-bit-4-gb-ram-320-gb-hdd-series/specs/
CPU: Intel Pentium P6200 / 2.13 GHz
Number of Cores: Dual-Core
How much RAM is there (4GB or less)?
I am rather sure it will work well with Lubuntu, Xubuntu and Ubuntu Gnome, and that it will probably run with standard Ubuntu. So you should download a few desktop iso files and try Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, ...) before installing it (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2230389)

With these specifications you should pick one of the 64 bit versions.

Intel i3 has more horsepower than the dual core Pentium I found at that link, and I think you can run any of the Ubuntu flavours. Bring several iso files and let your sister try them live and select the desktop environment, that she likes the best.
And I agree with mörgæs about 64 bits.
