View Full Version : Ubuntu on a MacBook Pro? Iso issues.

I'm trying to install 64 bit 14.04.1 Ubuntu on a MacBook Pro (2011 model - spec is fine). It's quite urgent and I've so-far tried the following

1. Download .iso to MacBook Pro. Burn to DVD (-RW or +RW) and verify.
2. Download .iso to different Mac. Burn to DVD (-RW or +RW) and verify.
3. Download .iso to MacBook Pro. convert to .dmg and make bootable USB stick.

All these methods go to completion without error messages, but in every case the resulting disc/usb gives an error message as soon as I try to mount it: "The disk you have inserted cannot be read by this computer". I've tried the disks/USB sticks in 3 different machines (all running OSX) and get the same message. If I look at the .iso in Disk Utility, it contains a volume 'disk2s2' which is greyed out - verification tells me that the disk needs to be repaired, but the repair option is also greyed out.

Has anyone else encountered this and is there a solution?
