Doubtful. Looks neat however. In the Linux world, we like to show off "the cube" effects to access different desktops and window transparency to see multiple layers at the same time. My first transparent window play happened in the mid-1990s just for a few weeks, since it wasn't overly useful.

They didn't open any terminals, so I don't see the usefulness.
My box has firefox, thunderbird and about 15 xterms to 5 different systems so I can get work done.

Still - that desktop is high in "cheese appreciation." I don't want to say you can't do it, since you can code anything you like and make it happen. When I google "linux 3d desktops" the results show lots of options.
Something like this? https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-64m0YNy1qaQ/T4xQnIBQgqI/AAAAAAAACDw/iP2q4F-8mcI/s1600/3ddesktop.jpg

I played around with a similar concept for Windows many years ago and as cool as it looks in the end it doesn't add anything to the computing experience except that it uses more system resources and I found it actually slows you down (until you get used to it I guess)...

So, just like Unity then?

I'm sorry, but this has to be said:

I'll see myself out
