How to upgrade from an old non supported version?

Hi,

A member of my family runs Ubuntu 12.10 and cannot update, upgrade or install anything because his version is not supported anymore.

I really don't have time to do the inventory of all softwares and paramter, format, reinstall, reconfigure everything...

Is there a way to upgrade to a LTS ?
