Hello,

I hope this is the right forum section for this post. I wasn't sure if i should have it in Desktops.

I want to install Ubuntu 14.04 XFCE on a netbook with a 1.6 atom proc and 2 gigs of ram. After it is loaded I would like to install the KDE netbook desktop.

Will there be any conflicts with the desktop managers. Researching this I found one post that says I will not be able to update from the KDE desktop.

If there are alternative suggestions for my hardware and software choices, please advise here.

Thank you.

you'll be fine, just select your desktop at log in.

your welcome.
make sure you install "intel-microcode" & set your video to "dvmt" in bios for best results.
intel-microcode-> corrects any cpu issues through firmware updates
dvmt-> won't steal any of your ram for video till you need it, gives up to 256mb for video intensive stuff.
