Duplicate windows on top panel

I am using xubuntu 14.4 and somehow I have inadvertently altered the window panes on the top panel, eg when I open my Inbox, browser or a new page on Libre office for instance this is shown twice on the panel. Has anyone plese got any solutions as to how I can remedy this?):P

You probably have two of the "Window Buttons" plugins installed on the panel. Check by right-clicking on the panel, choose Panel > Panel Preferences and inspect the "Items" tab for duplicate entries of "Window Buttons". Remove one.
