i just found an old Asus EEEPC 702 8G I used several years ago. Damn thing still boots up and fast.

I am not a hardware/OS guy at all. I was wondering if I could dump the current OS (Xandros) and go with something more up to date? All I want it for is website browsing and skype. I have tried for a few hours to figure it out and I am at a roadblock. If anyone could give me some instruction on this, I would appreciate it very much.
Thank you

Hi, welcome to the fora.

Lubuntu 14.04.1 or 14.10 are worth trying. More info in the link in my signature.

And how do I install Lubuntu 14.10 onto this Asus?

use unetbootin to make you a usb installer.

i recommend elementary os, it has the basic apps, no libre office to steal all your space. after install you should have at least 3gb of that 8gb, for other apps you might want.

There's no Libre Office in a standard Lubuntu eigther but it can of course easily be installed.
