After 14.04 resintall, wireless mouse & keyboard do not work after GRUB screen

I just resinstalled 14.04.1 from freshly downloaded and burned image. Wireless mouse and keyboard worked fine before reinstall. Now they do not work once I call Ubuntu up from GRUB screen. They work fine if I boot into Windows 7. They work fine on identical PC on the other side of my desk. Also, USB to APC UPS does not show. They do work correctly if I call up earlier version of the kernel from advance options under GRUB. What are next steps?

After I ran software update a couple of times, there was a kernel update (44) and wireless mouse and keyboard started working.
