Folks,

I know this is not specifically Ubuntu related but this forum has many knowledgable people so may point me in some direction.

I have a couple of older Netgem digital PVRs, excellent devices but some services (iplayer and remote recordings) were locked in to the brand supplier which was SmartTV.

I'd love to attempt to tweak this box but it seems the OS must be part of ROM as I have removed the HD which only contains variou folders for recordings. I remormatted the drive using gparted in my Ubuntu machine and the PVR then reboots and recreates the folder tree.

Port scan only shows 80 at that address, I know of 80 as I use this to save the recordings across my network.

Now I am thinking SmartTV must have used some java scripts or similar; anyone any ideas?

Geoff

How exactly?

Well, there used to be a facility to remotely set recordings so I assume some code was sent to the box, probably via a web script. As for tweaking; if the file system was accessible then a media server may be able to be run.

That is all.
