Note that for the "update-initramfs" issue, a lot of us get that one. Myself, I have become numb to it:

Your bug report also mentions issues with 3.19RC1. Are you saying your issues are now worse than they were with 3.19RC1?

All reported problems are present also in the 3.18, 3.18.1 and don't remember any more if in 3.19-rc1 or 3.19-rc2.

With the 3.17.7 the situation is ok related to:

- After the installation of Kernel 3.18.1, clean installation of Nvidia drivers (340.65-0ubuntu1~xedger) on both notebooks results with black-screen after failed booting attempt.
