I am unable to use dash to find applications. I can find folders, music, etc. but the applications icons are all missing.
When I log in as a "guest" dash works normally.
I have tried deleting the .cache/unity folder and that does not fix the issue.
I have tried re-installing unity and updating unity and that does not work.
I have tried the command: unity --reset in a terminal and it replies:
ERROR: the reset option is now deprecated
I have tried unity --reset-icons and it returns a long list of errors and does not fix anything
I have installed the Unity Tweak Tool and used that to attempt to restore defaults.
The only way we can run applications is to copy the start icons to the desktop from the computer/user/share/applications directory. We are not very good at Ubuntu and have tried to fix this ourselves but cannot find the solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
