Moving Icons to the task bar in Gnome desktop

Here is a screenshot of my desktop where eclipse menu bar is taking a lot more space and there is very less space while coding. I wonded if its possible to move the menu bars of eclipse (file, edit, source buttons) to the top black task bar. Its really annoying, not only in eclipse but other applications like firefox and netbeans.

If there is a global menu extension for the Gnome Shell that places the application menu in the top panel it would be found at the link. The other alternative is Unity. Only the menu categories would appear there and not the tool-bar icons.
