I have two systems with Ubuntu 14.04.1 installed. My primary is a Asus desktop with 16GB memory and an i5 processor. Earlier this week, I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop which is a dual core Pentium with 4GB memory. Everything works great on both systems, however on the laptop when I load the Unity Tweak Tool, I get the message that the Gnome Shell is not running. The program is different visually between the two.

This is the only difference that I have detected between the two and I'm curious as to why? Available memory maybe?

Thanks!
