FYI: Preload is found in the software center.
I like the preload concept; however, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't preload simply fill up parts of your ram with files from programs you routinely use. End result: less free ram ?

There should be no difference in free ram if the programs you normall use are 'preloaded' or loaded when you launch them.
If you have a SSD there's little to no advantage to using preload..

Well my computer (Intel Core 2 Duo) is too old to have the SSD, but I do believe these SSD will eventually replace all hard drives when the price comes down more.
I recently got a 128 GB flash drive - which is pretty substantial to my system considering my HD is 220 GB
